Nancy O'Dell's career in broadcasting began as an anchor and journalist for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. O'Dell later became an anchor for morning news for WCBD TV and acted as the crime reporter. While in Charleston O'Dell's reports about the relaxed approach police take to DUI cases led to the launch of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that led to state authorities re-issuing a more stringent directive regarding the instances. The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell with the Best Report of the Years Award in all South Carolina Media. Her work in Charleston led her to serve as co-anchor and investigative reporter as well as NBC's Miami WTVJ-TV. Prior to becoming a part of Access Hollywood she was a weekday co-anchor as well as NBC's weekend co-anchor. O'Dell is a leading anchor for Access Hollywood.
